After recently purchasing a RTX 3070 to upgrade from my AMD RX 580, I quickly found out my old power supply would not be up to the job. What I found was I didn’t have a dual 8pin connector for the graphics cards and my 12V rails were split into two. Many of today’s new PSUs have the 12V rail combined into one in order to provide the amps required.
